Sorina is a licensed marriage and family therapist with a Synergetic Play Therapy certificate. Her play therapy training was grounded in Experiential Play Therapy before becoming a Certified Synergetic Play Therapist. She has been working in the mental health field since 2016 – first focusing on school based mental health before working in a blend of community and school based mental health before moving to private practices. Sorina has a focus on early childhood and family therapy. She has a special interest in working with trauma, foster care, adoption and attachment challenges as well a particular interest in children with parental trauma and exposure to toxins (especially FAS/D presentations). As an adoptee and foster/ adoptive parent herself, she understands the unique joys, challenges and skills that support children from challenging backgrounds.
Altogether, though, Sorina works with trauma, anxiety, adjustment/transitional concerns, overall mental well-being, parenting challenges and neurodivergence concerns. Just as much as Sorina enjoys working with children, she enjoys working with the caregivers with the belief caregivers are an essential part to the child’s emotional well-being and have a unique perspective to the child and family’s day to day life. This often looks like parent coaching/support, parent/child work together or a combination of the two, all with deep compassion and understanding.
In her spare time, Sorina enjoys time with her kids and friends, snuggling her pets, reading, music, and time spent in nature.
